New building for the Barcelona Port Palacruceros Terminal, managed by Grupo Carnival. Thanks to these extension works, the installation will gain 1,300 m2 of facilities and a new elevated connecting walkway for boarding. This is the first phase of expansion required for converting the Port of Barcelona service platform into a modern installation with multiple facilities targeted at cruise passengers and with the aim of reaching 200 stopovers and 400,000 passengers per year.
GARCIA FAURA manufactured and installed more than 2,000 m2 of composite panels for this project, both in wall cladding and in canopies and walkways. The facade cladding system, which is particularly complex, had installation requirements that very few manufacturers are able to fulfil. One of the main characteristics of the panel is its flame-retardant finishing and high resistance to saline atmospheres, given the proximity of the sea. The aerated facade cladding system has also obtained the Technical Suitability Document (DIT) that guarantees the non-traditional building materials, systems and procedures used in construction and public works. This certificate verifies the product installation design, complying with the strict anchoring procedure and level of omegas required.
Aside from this, GARCIA FAURA has also been responsible for manufacturing the 100 m2 of curtain wall and 90 m2 of skylights that make up the visual aspect of the construction.
