GARCIA FAURA takes part in the InnoFAB project to regenerate homes in innovative ways
The project, designed by architects Pich Aguilera, was one of the winning proposals in the urban challenge launched by Barcelona City Council to regenerate residential buildings with innovative sustainable systems.
GARCIA FAURA was part of the development group for one of the winning solutions to the urban challenge launched by Barcelona City Council on the regeneration of residential buildings with innovative sustainable systems, for which global rehabilitation solutions using innovative construction systems were sought.
One of the winning solutions to this challenge was InnoFAB, a project presented by the Pich Aguilera team of architects and involving, in addition to GARCIA FAURA, Metalperfil Ros, Verdtical Urban Biotechnology, Gradhermetic, Visendum, Schneider Electric, Sustein, Matimex, Solar Innova and Vivers Ter.
The project presents a regenerating modular system, with a metal structure that is easy to assemble and dismantle, with industrialised, lightweight, multi-layer closing and finishing systems, and with materials that are 80% recycled or reusable.
The windows are made from recycled aluminium, with low-energy glass and solar protection systems. Other innovations include green roofs with rainwater storage and photovoltaic planters combining vegetation and electricity generation.
The proposal makes it possible to increase thermal, acoustic and lighting comfort, use rainwater, reduce energy demand, increase biodiversity through integrated vegetation and promote circularity through the use of recycled, recyclable and reusable materials.
The InnoFAB solution and the two others that won the urban challenge are currently in the pilot test phase. For one year, the results of the prototypes installed on the premises of the Campus Diagonal-Besòs of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya will be monitored.
