GARCIA FAURA participates in the rehabilitation of the breakwater of the Olympic Port of Barcelona
The Port Olímpic of Barcelona has begun the transformation of its spaces to become a pole of attraction for the blue economy (linked to the sea, non-polluting and based on sustainable production and consumption models). GARCIA FAURA participates with the rehabilitation of the commercial premises and the lockers of the breakwater.
With this transformation, the aim is for the Port Olímpic to be integrated into the life of Barcelona, becoming a friendlier space for the citizens of the Catalan capital, with popular nautical activities, sports and outreach as central activities, in addition to offering new areas linked to economic promotion and promotion of the blue economy.
To achieve these objectives, work is being done on the rehabilitation of the Mestral and Marina docks, as well as the breakwater. The latter has an area of about 2,500 square meters and, once the works are finished, it will offer different nautical activity and blue economy services.
Under the shelter dam, GARCIA FAURA intervenes in 31 premises for business activity and in 70 storerooms, which will serve to allocate 2,638 square meters to the blue economy. This intervention will involve the installation of more than one thousand square meters of curtain wall with aluminum profile.
Some eighty aluminum and glass closures will also be placed between exterior doors and tilt-and-turn balcony doors integrated into the curtain wall, and more than 2,000 square meters of microcomposite latticework on a stainless steel superstructure.
Once the works in the commercial premises and storerooms have been completed, the shelter dam will be urbanized to make it a promenade, fully accessible from the port and from the city, which will give way to a viewpoint of about 500 meters in length connected with the lower piers through two stairs.
