GARCIA FAURA has received a mention in the Technal 2021 Aluminium Architecture Awards, presented by the multinational aluminium company at the company’s biennial congress held on 27 May at the Ibiza Convention Centre. GARCIA FAURA received the award for its contribution to the renovation of the Parador de Aiguablava, a project by GCA Architects.
The Technal Aluminium Architecture Awards recognise the best projects in Spain and Portugal from both an architectural and technical point of view, highlighting the collaboration between architectural firms and industrial aluminium joinery and façade companies.
This year, a dozen mentions were awarded and four projects won in the categories of Housing (in collective and single-family housing), Work and Rehabilitation. The Discover category was left empty. GARCIA FAURA was honoured by Jaume Solà, the company’s Director of Purchasing and Strategic Control.
The award was given for the renovation of the Aiguablava Parador in Begur (Girona), a project designed by GCA Architects and also with the participation of Cristalería Martos. Inaugurated in 1934, it is a four-star hotel that has undergone extensive renovation work to modernise its spaces and facilities and turn it into a leading tourist establishment on the Costa Brava.
GARCIA FAURA helped to completely transform the appearance and technical performance of the establishment with the manufacture and installation of a total of 160 aluminium and glass frames, mainly Soleal FY65 and Lumeal systems by Technal with high performance and low emissivity glass coatings.
