Initial works by GARCIA FAURA in the monumental complex of the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The service area has been built, which houses the chapel shop, cloakroom and staff facilities. A building configured by two prisms that fit into the east corner of the church, joined by an indoor emergency staircase. The objective was to gather and resolve the new requirements that appeared as construction works for the church progressed.
GARCIA FAURA fabricated and installed the set of facades and glazing enclosures and exterior cladding. The most outstanding element is the 168 m2 of curtain wall, arranged in a non-linear layout rendering the structure unique. It is a facade that is complemented with more than 600 m2 of sandwich panel cladding and aluminium enclosures with thermal bridge break. These carefully executed works posed significant logistical difficulties, given the need to co-ordinate the work with the continual flow of tourists to the monument, which welcomes more than 3 million visitors every year.
