The University of Barcelona has had extension works carried out on the Law Faculty. The new installations comprise 4 floors and a basement, housing approximately twenty work rooms, an arbitration room and room for simulated trials, amongst others. The university intends to respond to the new teaching requirements and to continue to making progress in the improvement of the quality of its academic activity. Furthermore, the new building will be used as the new location for Labour Relations studies, which are currently taught at the Diagonal Sur campus. This is all contained in a new building that echoes the rectangularity of the historic building and that rises in one of the sides of the plot, perpendicular to the Diagonal avenue.
GARCIA FAURA installed over 7,500 m2 of curtain wall for this new building. It consists of double uprights and joists, clad with gazing featuring opaque screen-printed borders and white peaks, with an area containing composite blinds. The four buildings are interlinked by walkways formed from concrete slabs and it has been necessary to pre-dimension another type of anchor for the curtain wall. The curtain wall contains outward-opening windows and single or double leaf outward-opening doors.
