The world’s largest electrolyser factory is being built in Guadalajara (Spain) and is expected to be operational early next year.
US multinational Cummins is building the world’s largest electrolyser production plant in the city of Guadalajara. It will cover more than 20,000 square metres and create some 1,350 jobs.
Electrolysers are devices that produce hydrogen through the process of electrolysis, so no carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere. The Guadalajara plant will produce 500 megawatts per year, with the potential to produce up to one gigawatt per year.
The plant will have about sixty aluminium and glass enclosures manufactured and installed by GARCIA FAURA, including access doors, fixed, windows and manual and motorised sliding doors, as well as part of the glass railings of the installation.
These new facilities are expected to be completed between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, with the aim of the plant being fully operational next year, offering hydrogen as a viable alternative energy source in Europe.
